Dalat

Hidden in the interior of Vietnam is a real gem that will charm travellers with its temperate climate, lush vegetation, and unique atmosphere. In the region of Lam Dong, you can admire the city of Dalat, perched at an altitude of more than 1500 meters above sea level in the south of the central highlands of Vietnam. Bordered by green nature and enjoying a mild climate all year round, Dalat is also nicknamed the “city of eternal spring.” Lakes, hills, waterfalls, and pine forests are part of its surrounding landscapes. The city is also very flowery, with flowers of a thousand and one colours and scents giving it a springtime charm all year round. Dalat would not be as authentic without its inhabitants and their warm, welcoming smiles and sense of sharing.

The best season to discover Dalat is between January and April. The climate is less hot and less humid than in the rest of the country, but the temperatures remain pleasant. Its temperate climate throughout the year allows it to grow a luxuriant nature.

The city’s heritage was strongly influenced by French colonization and this is still felt today. Reveron and Moncet, French architects, designed many buildings. This is the reason why Dalat is often called the Little Paris of Vietnam.

As in the rest of the country, the town of Dalat is not immune to the pretty pagodas, which are not to be missed when you explore. The most remarkable is the Linh Phuoc pagoda, which is at the entry of the city. Its architectural style is unique and original since it was built with a multitude of pieces of porcelain and earthenware. This pagoda will impress you with its imposing statue of Buddha, its dragon-shaped pillars, and its bell. The Van Hanh pagoda is also worth a visit. Inside you will find a golden statue of Buddha more than twenty meters high.

Agriculture is highly developed in this region of Vietnam. You will witness rose fields as far as the eye can see around the city, which is one of the symbols of Dalat. The town of the central highlands is also famous for its wine and strawberries.

The city of Dalat in Vietnam is located a few hours from various tourist points such as the seaside resorts of Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city of Vietnam, or the national park of Cat Tien. A few dozens of kilometres from Dalat are the Elephant Falls, impressive waterfalls. Just travelling there will plunge you in the heart of incredible landscapes.

During your visit to Dalat, you can go to one of its colourful and fragrant markets. Let yourself be carried away by the atmosphere of the night markets where you can buy food, clothes, and souvenirs.
